I will probably buy the white iPhone 4 if it really does come out this month. My current (and first) iPhone is a refurbed white 3g with a cracked screen. I had planned on upgrading to the white iPhone 4 until they kept pushing the release back, then seemingly cancelled it completely. I was just going to wait for the 5 at that point, but now with the rumored delay I don't think I want to wait until fall (or later) for a new phone.

So wait, not to go off-topic, but let me get this straight: Josh quit Engadget to start another tech blog? FFS, like we don't have enough of those already.
No, he and like 7 others left Engadget because they didn't like how (AOL, owner) were trying to make them push content on the website. They are forming a new site with SBNation that will launch this fall. You can tell who the real talent was, as Josh got the break on this story and Engadget did not.

This is why Android phones are creeping up on iOS...they are offering more features and constant innovation in the hardware. iPhone users (and I used to be one) only enjoy hardware innovation once a year.
When does a single user actually get more than one new phone a year? You're creating a false scenario for a single user. As a community, android users have more choice, but a single user isn't negatively affected by the amount of innovation given that they can only buy once a year.
Maybe we will see an LTE iPhone in 2012, maybe not but I can say with all the certainty in the world that Android will have kick ass dual core LTE phones with large screens and probably something retina like in resolution by then. I wouldn't be surprised to see 12 MP cameras, 2-3 MP front cameras all running Android 2.4 Ice Cream Sandwich.
The forthcoming iPhone will likely be the dual core A5 processor. There is no faster SoC out there right now. 12 MP is irrelevant. It's all about the quality of the sensor, of which Apple is ranked one of the absolute highest. You're falling for the numbers game and assuming bigger means better.
For instance, only camera I've seen rated higher than the ip4's is a nokia's. Who's using nokia smartphones these days? The ip4's screen is considered among the best. The only one that will outright beat it is probably the upcoming SAMOLED + from Samsung. However, I bet the iPhone 6 or 7 will probably make the jump to AMOLED too. In terms of battery life, the droid x and atrix are pretty much on par. You have to get a blackberry to get better battery life.

I don't want to join in the bandwagon of naysayers who think they know Apple very well because none of us actually do.
Instead, I'll look at how it can possibly be true.
First point: The iPhone was released amidst a sea of dumb smartphones but did this fact stop Apple from dominating and changing the market, so I a crowded market a deterrent to Apple to re-introduce TV to the world? NO
Second point: The way TV is done by current competitors and Apple themselves, is that the focus is being heavily shifted to go through the web, which of course traditional media firms don't like. But what if you have an appliance that connects the way it did to traditional networks but once contents gets in you can control it the way you want. Apple is about user experience, maybe they have developed a way to make traditional TV more fun and interactive to use.
Third point: Apple is an electronic appliance company now more than ever and have been eyeing on capturing the living room for a while now. The TV is the center of the living room and instead of plugging in on to one why not make an actual set, that way you cut out competition from more established appliance manufacturers?
Fourth point: Apple already has a game console which is considered the hub of home entertainment, it's called iPad.
So is it still impossible for Apple to bring out a TV? NO. So let's just wait for new information to come.
Pls look at post #94. Numbers speak for themselves and they tell me Apple won't get into TV business. Who's going to pay 2k every 2 - 3 years for a TV?

They seemed pretty pissed off at her. I highly doubt they were beating her up like that simply because she's transgender. If they end up getting charged with a hate crime I'll lose a little more faith in humanity.
I understand from the news coverage that they attacked her after she used the woman's restroom.
Her transgender nature, and their reaction to that was absolutely central to this crime. If that isn't a hate crime, I don't know what is.

From the screenshots alone, it looks like a Cocoa app, which pretty much guarantees it'll be faster because it won't have the extra Qt bloated code in it ;)
Right, and Cocoa isn't the slightest bit bloated? (can you say runtime messaging and binding overhead?)
Regardless of the relative difference in overhead, I'd expect it to be negligible in both cases. This is just the gui that sits around the virtual machine, a nice window dressing to make it accessible to the user. It should only be exercised when you're doing stuff like editing configurations or attaching devices. The real meat of either VMware or Parallels should have nothing to do with what gui toolkit they use to display the window.
It's exciting to see this finally moving along. I really think virtualization will play a much larger role in everyday computing in the future. Forget backwards compatibility nightmares, just virtualize it. I'm already hogging way too much disk space on my Macbook with a few Parallels VMs that I use on a regular basis. Whenever Apple releases an affordable desktop Mac that can take more than 4 GB of memory, I might check out VMware at that time and see if it's any better.

Jailbreaking hole plugged?
Of course since jailbreaks only happen because of security holes. So I hope Apple closes up security holes even if it means jailbreaking breaks. While I'd like Apple to make it possible to jailbreak easier I won't begrudge them this approach.

According to CNET, the new Air will be released around June with a Sandy Bridge ULV Core i5 2537M chip 1.4 GHz that can turbo to 2.3 GHz.
So for .17 GHz upgrade we are sacrificing around 30% graphic power?
The CPU would be considerably faster, but the graphics ughh lol. The only way I can see myself grabbing a new one this year is if it comes with some type of integrated 3G plan similar to the iPad, then I'd consider downgrading the GPU.

I agree - if this does turn out to be in fact the truth Apple has some explaining to do.
Yes, definitely a scandal. Steve Jobs must respond to this immediately on twitter so the word gets out about how Apple will make new White Phone's whole. More free bumpers would be the minimum, I would think. We must marshal the media and post youtube videos about this.

I suspect it will be an early Thursday morning update, particularly as today is a public holiday in so many countries.
Ahw.. All because of my birthday? How nice!
Actually, as has been said before, there'll be public holidays somewhere everyday, 'so many countries' may mean something, but since you're talking about today, tomorrow could very well happen.

If the tapered design is real, the mockup almost certainly has it upside down. The thickness and weight would be at the bottom, not at the top. Otherwise, it would be an ergonomic disaster.
Given that Topolosky's people couldn't figure that out (or their source told them their mockup was correct), it suggests that the source is not good or Topolosky's people can't interpret leaks worth a damn.

I've lost a bit. :( actually quite a lot. I bought at around 170ish a while ago in prepare for the surge of macworld like last year but am at a bit of a loss right now. I think my avatar shows my recent mood.
You haven't lost anything until you actually sell. Maybe this story will help:
Apple was the last stock I bought back during the dot com days of the late 90's/early 2000's. I got burned trying to buy and sell all the dot coms on a daily basis, so I decided that I'd "invest" what I had left in Apple. Anyway, I bought Apple at $49/share in the year 2000. I thought it was a great price for whatever reason. Guess what? The price fell to around $7 within a very short period of time. Go look at a chart and you will see the cliff in which I speak of. However, I didn't lose my cool. I was in it for the long haul, so I maintained my position. I think patience is key to investing. Long story short, I did sell at $200 recently because I wanted to diversify those earnings and made a 720% return on my investment. So essentially, my original investment more than doubled itself each year I owned the stock. Why $200? I don't know, they had been so close to it for a while that it just sounded like a good round number. Anyway, I've had my fair share of doubts throughout my 7 year stint with Apple. I never dreamed Apple would be at $200/share. I've seen huge dips in their price in short periods of time, and I've also seen huge gains too. I've also had the stock split on me too. I've also felt it was doomed and there's no way it could ever do this or ever do that....
Think about what all has happened with Apple since 2000: I've seen OS X launched, the iPod launched, iTunes launched, the switch to flat screens, all the computers they've launched, iLife, iWork, iPhone, :apple:TV, addition of movies and tv shows, etc. etc. So here's why I invested in Apple in 2000:
1) I loved the company
2) I loved their products
3) I got excited about their products
4) I was a proud customer
5) I actually kept up with what was going on with the company (mainly through appleinsider and then macrumors shortly thereafter)
6) I knew Apple was innovative and had good leadership
7) I read all of the magazines related to Apple and talked everyones ear off about Apple
However, I didn't choose Apple because of the iPod (it didn't exist then), or whether or not they expected their 2nd qtr to be better than their all time greatest qtr in history. In a nutshell I chose Apple because I believed in their products/their management team/and their ability to produce a quality product that excites people.
So, I guess what you have to ask yourself is, in the next 7 years where will Apple be as far as products and innovation? Only thing I know is since re-investing in them in December at $182, they've released :apple:TV 2, movie rentals, Macbook Air, Time Capsule, an 8 core mac pro and a pink nano (lol). I think Apple is poised and ready to dominate other markets now..pfft iPod, that's so 5 years ago, blah blah blah, Apple owns the market and will maintain their dominance, now it's time for them to dominate in the movies and the phones and hopefully in computers.
If you think they are done, then I'd be worried and sell your shares as soon as you can. If you still believe in Apple, like I do, average down your shares while you can and hold on. At these prices right now, Apple can easily double in value again. They are better positioned than ever to take on their competition. All my 7 reasons above are as true today as they were 7 years ago and 7 years prior to that. :)

I'll stick to streaming audio AND video flawlessly off my own PC and have complete control and plenty of storage for free, using a $5 (one time charge) app. I see no benefits of the Apple cloud based scenario. But I can see huge disadvantages if Apple, in it's attempt to make money off this service, intentionally limits internal storage capacity in future devices.
