AT&T has hands down the worst service I have ever experienced.
It is as though they were operating in an emerging mobile phone world sometime in the early 80's when phones were the size of a Sat phone or you carried it in its own portable case.
In all the years I was with Verizon I had maybe 10 dropped calls.
They should be ashamed of themselves. But really what do they care, they have the iphone exclusively for the time being.
I must say this reflects poorly on Apple who picked these idiots in the first place.
Honestly, on a day to day basis, I think about going back and just giving up, the service is just terrible and I live in NYC! Where there are towers everywhere, and I usually have 5 bars.
Despicable profit seeking, customer service unfriendly whores is what they are!Blame Verizon then. Apple approached Verizon first, and Verizon was unwilling to allow Apple to have full control over the OS, the design of the iPhone
itself, or to make concessions regarding profit sharing. CDMA would not have been an ideal choice for a global phone, in any event.
Hi,
I'm thinking of switching from Verizon to AT&T to get the iPhone. However, I'm hearing horror stories of up to 30% dropped calls in the NY area.
For all iPhone/AT&T users in northern NJ and NYC area, can you verify that you experience around 30% of dropped calls?? is this true??
http://gizmodo.com/5370493/apple-genius-bar-iphones-30-call-drop-is-normal-in-new-york
I want the iPhone, but not if it comes with such bad service!!
Thank you,
olimits7Northern NJ: zero dropped calls, excellent coverage overall.

Still sneaky of Apple to advertise it as the same thickness as the black one...
As long as we're on the topic of measuring millimeters, notice how the screen on the physical iPhone 3GS is slightly smaller than on box picture (as well as pictures used on Apple.com website).

I don't know if the same applies for iPhone 4.

Wake me when iMacs have matte screens again.
I used to be a fan of the glossy, but any more I get so irritated with it. I have a matte screen at work and I kept thinking, the colors and textures are so rich. Oh wait, its because I can actually see them. I may go Mac Pro for the Video card and 3rd party monitor option next time.

God the iPhone 4 I'm trying this message on looks so much better than the white one.

Oh yeah definitely I love the thought of controlling my computer by poking the screen, yeah I just love the fingerprints on the glass of my screen so much and the mouse is so CLUNKY, all it's good for is stuff like doing work and getting stuff done.
I'm with you. Having a touch screen for a desktop is a stupid idea.

I assume the iMacs and air books will get thunderbolt in the next few months. So where does that leave the iPad? Will it always be able to support thunderbolt too? Eventually?

I wonder what battery life will be like.
Also, how many people downloaded it just so they could watch porn?
Battery life would show no change what so ever. The iPad is seeing it as HTML5.

Nope. I see every issue from the consumer perspective - as I should (being a consumer). Any other perspective would be an abomination (unless for those who hold tons of AAPL shares).
Phrases like "in Apple's eyes" is a good example of what I am talking about. Apple does not use iPhones, consumers do. Consumer eyse are the only eyes that matter. And that is exactly why people are switching to Android. If Apple cares more about what they think is right than what I think is right (for me) it would be stupid for me to care about what Apple thinks or does.
I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. You say that it would be stupid for you to care about what Apple thinks or does, yet you're on here berating them left and right. It makes zero sense to me.
Consumer eyes do matter and that's who Apple builds devices for. They don't build them for the spec junkie who has to have everything in the spec list checked off. They want people to have a great experience on their device in areas that matter in their mind.
I doubt that but even if that was the case then what? Every other phone manufacturer on the planet can design a phone that has LTE and Apple could not? Because they spend on R&D much less than any other hi-tech company of comparable size?
It is definitely true currently. No chip supports LTE and the other specifications (CDMA, GSM) yet.
Apple certainly can design a phone that supports LTE, but getting good battery life out of it is another thing. This is an area of focus for Apple so they won't make compromises here.

heya,
At first, I thought it was more stable.
However something seems to have gone wrong with my audio.
iTunes won't start, when I try it brings up an error message:
The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (-200).
There is no sound in Flash videos (Safari or Chrome) is missing, or any sound in Jitsi (VoIP client), or in MPlayer (Video player).
Strangely enough, QuickTime has sound. Have no idea what's going on here.
Cheers,
Victor

Apple contributes about 4% to samsung annual revenue. And how many of apple product line use apple components? Like 95% (pure guess)?
And that is reason enough that Samsung should be allowed to rip off Apple products? - I don't think so.

I don't even need to look at the article to know its total. Apple doesn't have the manufacturing and distribution channels to increase their market share by 4% in a quarter. Hell I don't think Dell has that kind of force either.
I think you misunderstood what he was asking (or maybe I'm just really confused).
I think he meant, 'did Apple sell 4.8% of all the computers shipped in that ONE quarter?' or 'does Apple now own 4.8% of the TOTAL computer market?'
Both are possible - although the latter is what the article discusses.

pfft, this should not be front page news, hell not even second page... just a bunch of hearsay from a CR that knows nothing about it and speculates BS.

Sweet pics. :D
Great pictures.
Proof positive that Apple did modify the phone but not the antenna. How do I know that?
Because you've all convinced me that Steve The Great, is never wrong.
Oh crap! Did I just say that? LOL
Thanks! :D

Fear and greed, as always the two opposing driving forces behind the markets. Both are emotions and neither are rational. Just something to consider whenever you are tempted to say that the sky is either the limit, or it's falling. Chances are, neither is true.

Seriously, no one is questioning this? I don't care how big this woman is, no one can eat 90 pounds of food plus 2 hams and 5 loaves of bread.
I'm with you. If they took all the food they claim she ate in one sitting and piled it up, the pile would be bigger than her.
I don't care how fat you are, that's more volume than a human can consume. She would've either vomited or exploded.

well nevermind. i got it around 36 mins now for each frame. i had been messing with the bios earlier, and forgot to put it back how i had it (overclocked)

yeah i know, which stinks, but at least windows 7 is a little better.
here's the problem for me and the bigadv units: i can't really use the computer for anything else. but with the gpus going, i can still use the system.
gpu3 will be good, but still, apple doesn't allow for all the video cards though
At least with my mac pro it is quite usable while running bigadv units, it doesn't feel slow at all and the wu doesn't slow down very much.
Are there gpu, pci-e, power connectors inside the mac pro? I forgot to look the last time I had mine open.
I will sell my 2 copies of win 7, and go back to linux, when gpu3 is up and running, it would be nice not to have to buy another copy right now but I don't want to wait for gpu3, which could be weeks or months before it is ready. I guess it is out for alpha testing, I don't think I'll bother until it's past the beta stage.

Oooh things are heating up :D
I'm not gonna buy music from Amazon again though, I downloaded 1 song for my Dad once from there. Because iTunes didn't have it, and Amazon emailed me for weeks with spam.
Just change your Amazon account settings. The only emails I get from them are to tell me if an order I placed has shipped.

Throwing in an SSD drive bumps the ship time to 4-6 weeks!!!!
Not cool, Apple. Not cool.
You'd have to be a fool to order that from Apple. Their upgrade prices on SSD's are a joke! It'd probably be cheaper to wait it out a couple of months and get an external thunderbolt one - it'll be just as fast if not faster!

Been with O2 (UK) for many years I never had a dropped call until I bought an iPhone.
My signal is good, full bars on 3G and 2G. Dropped calls, calls failed happen regally.
I also hate sitting on a train, everyone else who does not have an iPhone has full-good reception, iPhone displays "No Service".
